Mise-en-scene & Second location...

We have started to discuss mise-en-scene in particular what Taygan should wear e.g. formal/casual/dress/jeans etc. But as we don't know what Taygan feels comfortable in, or her style, so we have arranged to meet her this Friday to sort out clothing and discuss when is best to shoot the video. Today we also though about possibilities for a second location as many of the videos we watched had multiple locations to add interest and break up the monotony. Possible locations include:

  • Farnham colleges new drama/dance studio
-which has a good natural lighting and a mirrored wall which can be used to create interesting shots e.g. reflections etc.
  • Guildford colleges T.V. studio

-which has multiple lighting possibilites and is set up specifically for filming.

In the first location (shopping centre) Taygan will be acting out a story that is cohesive with the song but in the second location she will be in more of a musician role with a strong focus on her playing the guitar.
Other props thought about for the second location include the use of candles but we have to look into the health and safety implications (fire alarms). Guildford colleges TV studio is well ventilated, as they wanted to be able to shoot cooking shows there, so the candles wont be an issue- but there is no large mirror. But the drama department don't usually use candles so this may be a defining issue.

Plot
The general plot thesis so far is that Taygan has finished work and that she is waiting to be picked up by her boyfriend who originally is just running late: hence the song title "Wait for Love. This will coincide with montaged footage of Taygan playing her guitar at the second location. But at the end of the video he will send her a text saying that he can't make it. Although this will make the over-all tone of the video sad by keeping up the pace of the video and; using varied shots and angles, hopefully the video will remain interesting.
